What is ReturnIt?

ReturnIt provides a simple and safe way to return your lost property.
How does it work?

We provide secure ReturnIt labels that you place on your personal property. The labels contain your unique member ID number, and the ReturnIt monitoring center's toll-free number and web address. When your misplaced property is found, we are notified and then we notify you. As a thank-you to the person who finds the item, we offer free service for one year in the ReturnIt program.

Why don't lost-and-founds return your property?

Most lost and misplaced items are turned in to lost-and-founds, which are located in almost every public setting, including hotels, restaurants, airports, and shopping malls. Most lost-and-founds, however, simply store items until they are claimed or sold. They cannot return the items because there is no way to identify the owners. The ReturnIt lost-and-found system provides an easy way to ensure that a found item is matched with its proper owner.

Do you guarantee I will get my property back?

We cannot guarantee that your lost belongings will be returned. We do, however, provide a way for lost-and-founds to return your property rather than store it. We work with lost-and-founds nationwide to assist them in returning your belongings.

ReturnIt has located my lost item. How do I get it?

We give you a choice:

We can tell you where the item is and, if convenient, you can retrieve it yourself.

We can arrange to send it to you via ground or air shipping. You will only be charged for the exact shipping charges. No additional handling fees are added.

Why don't the labels contain my name and contact information?

For safety reasons, law enforcement officials strongly discourage putting personal information on your property.

What personal belongings can be labeled?

ReturnIt labels are designed for portable items such as cell phones, cameras, wallets, keys, laptops, and similar items. The labels are not designed for children or pets.

My contact information has changed. Do I need new labels?

No, you don't. The labels are designed to work even if your contact information changes. Members simply update their original contact information. You can do this quickly and easily by accessing your customer page on our website at www.ReturnIt.com.
